Cigna PDP Will Be Commissionable in 2024!

Update: Cigna PDP is now commissionable in all 50 states starting for the 2024 plans!

Cigna is excited to announce that starting with the 2024 Annual Enrollment Period (AEP), Cigna will expand commissionable Prescription Drug Plan (PDP) sales to all of their distribution partners and contracted brokers, in support of their No Wrong Door portfolio selling strategy.

For some time, you’ve provided feedback that you would like to earn PDP commissions and that it would drive more Medicare Advantage sales. You and your distribution prefer to offer a carrier’s complete portfolio of products, and most competitors offer commissions on their PDPs. Across the industry, brokers authorized to sell PDPs have increased sales of the same carrier’s Medicare Advantage (MA) and Medicare Supplement (Med Supp) products. Now more than ever, we believe Cigna is positioned to capitalize on their positive sales momentum.

Cigna has been running a pilot program that helped inform their decision and build the business case, and are now expanding the program to all three Cigna PDPs across all of their distribution partners and brokers. Cigna brokers selling any of their three Cigna PDPs will receive a commission for their sales efforts in the upcoming AEP.

With the launch of Cigna's fully commissionable PDP products, brokers will be in the best position to support their No Wrong Door portfolio selling strategy. With this enablement, you can meet your customers’ specific needs by presenting any combination of Cigna MA, Cigna PDP, Cigna Med Supp, and other Cigna Supplemental Health and Life (SHL) products. This will also drive value and affordability for your shared customers.

Several functional areas across the enterprise have already begun preparing for the 2024 AEP commissionable PDP expansion.

We look forward to sharing more details about this in the coming months.
