October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month which means it's the perfect time to stress the importance of early detection. Approximately 1 in 8 women born in the US today will get breast cancer at some point making it the second most common cancer found in women, but there are steps that can be taken to detect and treat it in the early stages. There are several breast cancer screenings that can be done at clinics, doctor's offices, or hospitals and are covered by most health insurance plans. The most common being mammogram screenings which Medicare covers for women that are 35 and older.
Encourage women to speak to their doctors about the benefits of breast cancer screenings and help lower the number of families affected by breast cancer!
